Not sure about this £1 a minute thing - I just take the vin and reg plate to my local BMW dealer and speak to the nice man at the parts dept and ask him if he'll just quickly give me the original build spec and service history. Usually they'll oblige.

Good luck.

(If it was originally registered on a differnt plate (it might have had private plate at some point) they might struggle.)

I was after service history for a car i'm buying and just called up my local BMW dealer and although they couldn't tell me when the car had been serviced, they could tell me the options and where it had been serviced, so i just googled the name of the franchise it had been to, gave them a call and they told me everything. Screw paying £1 a minute!

The sort of person so desperate to own a cheap BMW nothing will get in the way between them and the badge they crave.

Usually then found at Bobs Second Hand Tyres getting a set of used Linglongs fitted to the 18's.

I drove a nice E39 528 advertised with full service history and it only had about 60k on the clock. Was quite happy with the car despite a couple of bits of minor paintwork issues which could be easily sorted, asked to see said service history and suddenly they "couldn't find it". I walked away. Thankfully the one I ended up buying with nearly double the mileage and £400 dearer had FSH present and was in better condition. In all honesty the first one might have been fine too, but I wasn't prepared to take that risk at £3k.

I had this a while back. Advertised with FSH on a 2000 car. The reality was 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2009, with no paperwork to back it up and all stamped by light commercial centres, one of which I know of and know as a bunch of cowboys.

My E39 had stamps at least every 15,000 miles since new, tons of paperwork, all old MOT certificates and a fresh HPI report cosnducted by myself. Exactly what I would want and was looking for.
