Any one know what the waiting time is, from ordering one from a garage to it been built and delivered? Because i ordered one in Mid-October. Was meant to be delivered in early December and now i've been told the last week in December hopefully, and i don't want to pay the extra VAT.

Thanks
Chris

I seem to remember someone saying if you ordered when VAT was at 15% then thats what you'll pay.

I ordered my 335i touring on the 3.10.09, delivery 7.12.09 so approx 9 wks.

In regards to the VAT, this is paid according to when you get invoiced for the final balance, not ordering date.

I'm guessing a Z4 is built in the US so you have the ocean voyage to factor in...

Picked the Z4 35i up from the dealers on Saturday, only done 140miles up to now, but very impressed, just a shame TVR couldn't follow suite with build quality. If any one else is thinking about jumping from TVR to BMW i would definately look at the 35i, it doesn't have the raw and aggressive power of a TVR, but it has a nice compromise with refinement, power and excellent build quality.

2008 was the last Z4s built in the U.S. BMW is moving their production to Germany to expand the Spartenburg N.C. production of the "X" cars that continue to be popular here.

Hi Chris,
I changed from a T350T in September to a new Z4 35i and havn't regretted it. I have never been a BMW fan and not had one before but wanted something new and really liked the shape of the new Z. For me, on my normal driving routes the car is more stable and predictable, and the surge from very low revs is great fun and definately more confortable.

I'd have thought any saving in the 2.5% VAT would be easily offset come resale time by having a 2010 registered car than a late 09 one?

I tend to like the previous shep Z. The new one looks to me like a shrunken version of the 6 series line. It is too formal and dressy looking IMO. I like the wilder more outlaw look of the last one. Again, just IMO. That said, the interior of the new one is far better.
