Hi guys,

I've just bought a 325 Coupe E36 with the intention of preparing it for track day use.

I'm looking for parts (especially brakes, suspension and cage) and advice (the more the better).

I use performance friction 'Z' pads with OEM discs on my e36 328 and have had no problems, although it sounds like you are a bit more serious then me so might want better discs too.

Best advice is to join http://www.bmwowner.com/forum/ loads of info on there!

Would it be worth using the 3.45 LSD from a 318 for shorter gearing?
Won't fit as the 4 pots use the narrow casing diff.

Now ordered Jamex coil-over lowering kit and uprated (grooved and drilled) discs (standard size) and Yellow Stuff pads.

As far as cages go, they're all stupidly expensive. Full cage is about a grand whereas a club cage or half cage is still around £700. Fortunately for me, my brother's gonna sort something out for the price of a tube bender and the tube!!

I've done a deal with some wheels (swapped a set of 18" for two sets of 16") but will be standard tyres to start with due to the cost of track tyres. Just seats and harnesses to go and a few minor modifications, including a chequer plate floor panel in the footwells, A/C removal, all other stripping out completed (dash staying in for first few days).

Not true, my Safety Devices half cage was £387 plus VAT.
