X5 (E53) Xenon headlamp adjustment

Does anyone know how to alter the high of the headlamp beam (outside of the auto leveling).
The handbook gives details of how to switch the beam for driving on the left but not how to change this.
There are two white nylon/plastic fasteners on top of each headlamp unit (look like allen bolts but have a cross-head screw arrangement) are these the adjusters?
