E90 Touring - 325i or 330i automatics, what are they like?
Discussion
Hi all,
The wife is expecting a baby next year, and we're thinking that our current two cars (E46 320i Coupe, and a MINI Cooper convertible) are perhaps not the most practical cars to have (especially the Mini!).
So we're thinking of downsizing to one car - chopping both the BMW and the MINI in and getting an E90 Touring (although we had also been considering the E46 touring).
We don't do a huge mileage, so I want a 6 cylinder petrol for the fun factor, and certainly not a diesel
325i and 330i E90 tourings at around the £12k mark look fairly rare. And if you want one with lots of toys, you're almost certain to end up with an automatic.
Which is my question:
My E46 has the 5 speed autobox, which I've always been comfortable with. But I note the autobox in the E90 is a newer 6 speed.
Anyone have any comments on these? Not worried about high mileage cars in general, but should we be concerned about buying a 6-speed automatic with 80k + miles on it?
Any other comments on the E90 touring? Are they significantly better than the E46? It seems that for around the same money I can either have a very late, high specification low mileage E46 touring, or an early high mileage E90... hence the dilemma.
Cheers,
Steve.
