Afternoon,

Hope somebody can help, my E90 325i told me this morning it was low on oil, it is showing on the dash display as being on the min and needing 1 litre.

TBH I haven't checked as I have only had the car 2.5 months and have only covered about 2500 miles since I picked it up from the BMW dealer.

I checked it at the time of pickup and it was full.

Is this a concern, past cars I have had have used oil but I didn't expect this one to, BMW seem to think it's normal, is this right?

Cheers

rfn

I think BMW said on the E46 6 cylinders that up to 1 litre per 1500 miles was acceptable?

The difference between Max and Min on the dipstick is typically one litre, so unless things have changed on the newer engines I would say it was ok?

Some reps doing 35 - 40k per annum must be topping up fairly regularly!!

Yep.

And BMW tolerances are more like 1L per 750 miles.

I did ring my supplying dealer after posting and they said the same, I must be doing something wrong, 1L in 2500 miles, must try harder biggrin
