GKD Sports Cars (www.gkdsportscars.com) is the first specialist sports car company to successfully utilise the mechanicals from the award winning BMW 3-series E36 (1991~1999) and/or E46 (1998~2006). This means that both the LEGEND and LEGEND SIX can be built and maintained anywhere in the world without the problem of sourcing old and/or hard to get parts.
The LEGEND and LEGEND SIX are lightweight two seat Lotus Seven Inspired Sportscars (LSIS) with front mid-mounted engines, rear wheel drive and a suspension geometry developed from over 50 years of motorsport. By combining proven, modern and affordable mechanical components from the BMW 3-series with timeless LSIS styling, GKD has created quality, high performance and low cost clubman sports cars that deliver pure back-to-basics motoring that exemplifies the ethos of ‘performance through lightweight’.
The LEGEND and LEGEND SIX have capacious engine bays that can accommodate a wide range of car and bike engines. The LEGEND's standard engine fitment is from BMW’s range of 4 cylinder engines whereas the LEGEND SIX can accommodate BMW's complete range of 4 or 6 cylinder engines.
Performance Details:
• The LEGEND (595kg) with a standard BMW 1.8 M42 engine (140bhp) is 235 bhp-per-ton... a Porsche Boxster is only 187 bhp-per-ton and a Lotus Elise is just 156 bhp-per-ton.
• The LEGEND Six can accept the BMW E46 M3 engine (343bhp) and six speed gearbox, and although slightly heavier (650kg) gives an amazing 527 bhp-per-ton... the Bugatti Veyron is a lowly 485 bhp-per-ton!!!
