Hi all, I'd be grateful for any help anyone can give me. Mine is a (fairly) recently acquired car and I'm falling out of love with the 'dead' steering and the incessant tracking. The car follows every ridge and camber to the point where it's getting boring. I've been told it's the runflat tyres. Is this right? Should I swap to something normal? If so, what? Thanks a lot for your advice...

330ci shouldn't be on run flats.
Is your the current shape (E92) or the old one (E46).

E46 should have normal tyres and is notorious for tramlining, expecially when tyres start to wear.
Have to get used to it.

It's the E46...330ci convertible. Wish I'd done a bit more research before I'd bought it. Thanks fo your help.

A lot of the problem (I own a 55 plate 330ci vert) is that the tyres on the thing are so damned wide that you find yourself tramlining everywhere, one of those things I guess, its a good look, but has its hang ups.

What tyres does it have?

A second thought, the E46 sports (or those running the 18" MV wheels) are notorious for tramlining.
what is your cab, and what tyres & sizes it is on ?

I used to have one with 19" BBS CH 235/35/19 Mich PS2 & ACS Springs.

It wasn't too bad with respect to ride quality or tram-lining. Although mine had all the suspension/steering components replaced.

Rear trailing arm bushes/top-mounts/Front wishbone bushes/ball-joints/ coil springs/shocks are all pretty weak unfortunately.

An E46 that rides badly, is twitchy, tramlines very badly, wobbles under braking and doesn't feel tight. Sounds like half of all E46s on the road to me, regardless of what has been replaced.

Go back to boring old 17" wheels - my old coupe was fine like that.
I was warned off bigger wheels for the same reasons you are now experiencing.
