I recently had a headlight bulb failure on one of my E36's headlights. Taking off the plastic cover I saw that the wire connected to the bulb had shorted and the connector was stuck fast on the bulb. Around an inch of wire was toasted.

I looked for a H1 connector on eBay and other sites but couldn't find one. As a long shot, I thought I'd ask my local BMW dealer if they had any. Lee in the parts department said although there was nothing on his computer to say they did, I should bring the car in so they could have a look at it.

Lee introduced me to one of the technicians. A guy called Ray.

Ray took one look at it, said he'd be back in a minute and came out with a brand new connector. He stripped the old wire, fitted the new connector for me and put it all back together. The bulb turned out to be fine.

He refused to take any payment for his time or trouble.

I know it was only a small job but I was very impressed, especially as I've never had my car serviced there or bought one from them.

Well done Cooper. smile

- great story - sadly, they'll have to sack him now, & just before Christmas, too. wink

I'm not surprised, tbh, I get good service from them. When I had a recent sensor failure on my Z4 they diagnosed it for nothing (where others charge, I read), collected it, fixed it and, because my mileage was low, asked BMW if they'd pay for it. Result was a £75 bill rather than £250.

Hope so. Think you need this to add to your colection http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyI...

Don't worry about the lumpy idle, I can fix that.

Also had a good experience from their sales side. My local dealer wouldn't share any finance info with me, insisted that I come in for a visit (and a red hot cup of coffee no doubt) - With Cooper a quick call and within 10 minutes I had the exact qoutes I wanted pinged over in an email. So another thumbs up.

I always find dropping off a crate of beer pre Christmas ensures good service in the following year drink
