E39 Pulling Steering

I've had my E39 for a few months now and can't fault it
One thing I find curious is that on occasion, under braking to a standstill, the steering wheel pulls to one side in my hands - detectable at low speed, <20mph
Not one side consistently but it could be right or left - as if it's following undulations in the the road's surface
I've never had this sensation in a car before - apart from torque steer - not applicable here
It's a 530 so it's using rack and pinion - anyone had the same thing?
