I was just talking to an old friend today and heard she lets her son drive her new E9x BMW 335i, she is insured on the car but her son is not. He doesn’t seem like the most experienced of drivers and is more of a boy racer. When I told her that she would be uninsured if he crashed, she didn’t seem too bothered. I however, was outraged; a 17 year old who had just passed his driving test was now driving a 335i; especially when he is a wreck less driver who has no insurance.
What’s your opinion? Would you ever let someone drive your car uninsured?

Can't belive you are even asking.

Its the highest form of stupidity, and I would NEVER drive or let anyone I knew drive my or their car un-insured.

Your freind is a fking idiot. The son is doing what any son would do, jump at the chance, its the joke of a parent he has that is going to be his demise.

Yeah think there's a fairly stern punishment for knowingly letting someone drive your car uninsured, could be wrong though.

He probably doesn't know he isn't insured. He assumes his mother is not so much of a that she has sorted the insurance..

In fact, it's also the mother who is breaking the law. You are not allowed to let someone drive your car without checking that their car insurance is valid. She knows it isn't valid... ie he doesn't have one.

She may be an accessory, but the main offender is ALWAYS the driver.

sadly though, do you think that would stop him driving? and even sadder, would it stop his mother lending him her car?

He'll get caught soon enough if he is a young lad out in such a car driving like a prat. He'll get done, his mum will get done, and they'll both find it substantially harder to insure cars in the future.

LOL she's also to blame but the responability is on the driver to know the car they are driving is insured, and insured for them to drive! If he's got a license he should know this...

Knowing what i was like when i was 17 in a 1.2 Corsa i dread to think if i'd of had a 335i..! In face i'd go as far as saying i'd of probably killed myself, people in my car, and other innocent people going about their lives innocently... but i suppose that would also be his mothers fault, so it doesn't matter.
