b2.5 alpina or 328

220-ish, and it's also very hard to prove that it is an actual b2.5 engine.
The differences were an alpina exhaust, cams, and ecu, you might not have the original ecu too, so in essence, it's an M50 with schrick cams fitted.
If it's anything like the 3.0 or 3.2 it'll have a shedload more done to it than a hot camThe differences were an alpina exhaust, cams, and ecu, you might not have the original ecu too, so in essence, it's an M50 with schrick cams fitted.

sadly not, it was a UK only marketing tool.
There is a fuller fat B6 2.8 which had the usual stage 1 tune of cams, mahle pistons, and stroked(i think, rather than bored), with exhaust and ecu, which made 240bhp, so roughly what you'd expect a decently modded 328 to achieve.
Ah right, I was just going by what I found in the register in an adThere is a fuller fat B6 2.8 which had the usual stage 1 tune of cams, mahle pistons, and stroked(i think, rather than bored), with exhaust and ecu, which made 240bhp, so roughly what you'd expect a decently modded 328 to achieve.
Alpina Conversion consists of : 2.5 litre Alpina factory built engine (525 block, reworked cylinder head, Mahle pistons, Remapped ECU)
well details are incredibly sketchy on these, they were all UK conversions by sytners, and i've never seen anything formal, or found the source of the 220bhp power claims.
The 525 block and pistons certainly doesn't match with anything i've heard, and there wasn't anything different between the 525 and the 325s apart from the sumps.
It's quite possible someone has got confused between a few of the odd models around, such as the b2.8 e28 and a B6 2.8
ETA- A post i've just seen on the Alpina register doesn't even mention the cams, but does say that L&C (now defunct i believe) also did a few conversions under license.

I was after more power for my 325i so I looked at getting some Shrick cams, was amazed at how much they cost. So I then looked at 2.5/2.8 Alpina engines as there were a couple going for about a grand, when decided to go for an M3 engine. I bought a rusty 3l coupe for £2000, sold the seats, wheels and few bits and bobs so ended up with a complete M3 conversion for about a grand. As well as more power I've also ended up with an LSD, bigger brakes, better cooling system (bigger rad + oil cooler).
Just a thought.
Just a thought.
