BMW Phone Kits?
Discussion
Hi there,
Our new X5 has the built in phone kit, however it is all set up for some really old naff Nokia complete with cradle!
What is the best option for us as we want to use hands free - however don't want to have to use an old Nokia. I'm sure I can buy some Parrot kit and get it installed for around £250, however this would leave all the nice built in telephone display redundant?
I guess the ideal would be either a cable with an iphone connector - or Bluetooth..
Thanks for any info!

I've only had my X5 with the phone in for a week, and I've been offshore since thursday, so these instructions may well be wrong!!
You need the car manual as it'll have the pairing number that you type on the phone (4 digits I think) or it's on the phone stuff in the boot cubby on the left.
You hold down the button next to the cradle for at least 5 seconds while switching the ignition to position 1 from completely off.
Your display should now say pairing and beep.
Search for the car with your phone and input the number when asked.
Switch off the car wehn it says pairing complete or something similar.
Done.
I had to delete old phones from my system, you just hold down the button till it beeps 3 times.
I also had problems with the phone disconnecting but deleting the old text messages fixed this.

I'm now on my 2nd X5, the first one was a pre facelift 3.0D and the one I got recently is a facelift 3.0D.
I test drove quite a few cars and 4x4s both times but I just keep coming back to the X5.
When I got the first one I was unsure about going to auto (I had a 330ci before) and was worried that I would miss the interaction but to be honest when I drive a manual now unless it's something sporty I just can't be bothered to change gear.
