Hello all.

With the shorter days, I have recently realised just how woeful the headlights are on my car.

Having had an E92 with Bi-Xenons it's particularly noticeable. The lights are very dim and 'yellow'.

I actually feel that they are unsafe and I wanted to upgrade them.

What are my options?
New bulbs?
Some sort of full-on conversion?

eBay would appear to be awash with options I know nothing about!!

I don't want any hassle come MOT time with marginally legal HID kits etc, just an improvement overall. Am prepared to throw 100 quid or so at the problem if it will yield a real improvement...

Thanks in advance to all

Nico.

I have xenons on my car, my wife had xenons on hers (before it was stolen!). Her new car didn't; so I got a local car electrics company to fit xenons. The kit is not as good as standard BMW, but it will mean you can see much better at night.

If I were to do it again i'd buy a kit off Ebay & fit it myself. It's really simple... My brother bought a kit for one of his cars & I can't believe how easy it was to fit & now i'm gutted I didn't do mine myself.

One tip though - don't change your high beam - the kits take a bit of time to warm up & by then you dip.

I've had HIDs on my e36 for four years and never had any hassle at MOT or from other road users.

Best to het a set of projector shrouds fitted too.

ETA - boys at e36coupe.com seem impressed with ebay shop diane_shop

Thanks chaps - Some more digging has lead me to two or three serious contenders, including some angel eyes. i thought they'd look a bit chavtastic but actually some of the chaps on e36 Coup' have some very nice looking set-ups combining HIDs and Angel Eyes. Looks like £150 will see me with a quality set of each + plus some shrouds...

I think the combination will give a much needed update to the car overall - I love the look of my E36 but boy are they looking dated these days and it's only 10 years old! (but the platform I suppose is nearer 20)

Will post some piccies when done in a couple of weeks....
