GOT A 525I E39 ON A 1999 THERE SEEMS TO BE A VIBRATION, ALMOST SIMILAR TO MISSING BUT I HAVE CHECKED AND ALL SIX FIRING FINE, SEEMS TO BE SOMETHING LIKE WARPED FLY WHEEL, OR MAYBE CLUTCH PRESSURE PLATE FINGERS NOT EQUALLY FLAT SOMETHING LIKE THAT. IS THERE ANY THING COMMON WITH THESE THAT IT MIGHT BE?

I believe that there is a problem with E39s losing blades off the cooling fan causing an imbalance and potentially the vibration that you are experiencing.

(Small text to balance out the shouting by the OP)

Is it speed-sensitive? My car (528i) seems to be very particular about the balance on the front wheels. Doesn't have to be very wrong at all to produce the most annoying wobble at 70MPH.

Control arm bushes... Common one on the E39, I've got to do mine some time soon.

Does it vibrate/shake through the body when you rev it in neutral, disappear when the revs get up and give another vibrate/shake as the revs come back down?

its a vibration that is present when parked and driving therefore not driving speed related but engine and gearbox as nothing else moves when parked

OK well thats exactly what I had on a 1996 328i, was told to check fan, viscous etc and did but wasnt that, eventually gave up and just kept on using it as it wasnt getting any worse. After about six months the clutch bearing became noisy so changed the clutch (cover, plate and bearing) and the vibration went.

my local mechanic mate said it could be the bearing in the fly wheel, sounds about right, cheers for that
