How much to pay for an oil change for an E39 528?

And what is the best oil to use? Car had its last change when I bought it just over a year ago, so it's in need of it again. Been told that going the BMW route isn't all that more expensive than an Indie. I could get my local garage to do it at a fraction of the cost and know they are doing a good job but I would like the service history to say BMW on it.

An 'Oil Service' shouldn't be vastly different in price even at the Maindealer...whether it makes any difference is highly debateable.

I once took my ex-E30 M3 into my local maindealer for an 'Oil Service' (normally used Moseley Motorsport but he was busy). It was driving absolutely fine when I drove in...when I tried to drive out an hour and a half later it wouldn't make it as far as their front gate!

Thanks, the local garage I normally use say they will do an engine flush with the oil change, but I really don't want them to do that as I have heard it does more harm then good, might take it to a good Indie.

Check with your local main dealer see if they do the 6plus servicing for cars over 6 years old, something like 40% off labour and 20% off the parts.

Wollaston BMW did my oil service for 107 quid with fully synthetic oil
