Looking at a E36 325 cabriolet. Would this year be a nikasil worry?

Nope. It's an early engine and imune to that kinda thing.

Hope this helps: an e36 might be affected, however, if it's run well for 12+ years, I would expect either the engine has already been changed, or it's always been run on good quality fuel: either way, the danger has probably passed.

325 engine is pre-facelift for E36s so will not be nikasil.

The OP describes the car he's looking at as an e36 325: he doesn't mention a year. Since the 323 was powered by a 2.5 litre engine, the M52B25, it's perfectly possible the car he's interested in may have been affected, hence the link to some useful information. Sorry that offended you all in some way.

Oh come on. it's all light hearted. If he's looking at an E36 325i then it's not got a Nikasil engine. End of. Yes the 323i has a 2.5 (not that a fair few people know that) but a 323i is a err 323i not a 325i.

It's a 1993 car....should have said....

I've owned two E30's but this would be my first foray into E36 ownership...
