Problem with starting 320 Deisel auto

Hi has any encountered this preoblem. I have 320Deisel automatic. The engine turns over plenty of voltage supplied by battery but car wont fire up. RAC used quick start to get it going ran to get me home then as travelling on motorway I felt a loss of power and the DDE light came on! Coasted home but clearly my normal zippy car had no guts! As soon as I arrived home and turned the engine off it would not fire up again! Anyone encountered this problem? Really appreciate a helping hand

Best to get the code read, it's possibly a low pressure fuel pump, but since the DDE light came on, you might as well ask him what he thinks.

If it is a low pressure fuel pump does that mean a replacement? DDE light came on after the RAC had sent me on my way saying do not turn the engine off till we got home!
