strange instrument behaviour on 8 series...Any ideas?

Hi all
Wondered if anyone had any ideas? Driving car home tonight, and even though engine continued to perform perfectly, the speedo, temp gauge and fuel gauge all went to zero. At the same time the handbrake warning light came on. Would remain like this for about 30 seconds and then back to normal etc etc then back to zero.

Appreciate any help...its a 98 840 Sport.

I was driving along in my E39 when I suffered an ABS sensor failure.

The symptoms were very similar to yours; speedo, rev counter and fuel gauge all went dead, and a handful of lights came on.

Not saying that is what you've had happen, but it's worth thinking about.

It could be something in nothing,i have had the odd car where a warning light cameon ,i stoped the car turned of the ignition restarted the car and the problem never happend again,just watch and see if the problem comes back,could have been a temporary short caused by a bit of dampness .
