I am just wondering if there are any tall drivers of the E36 out there that can comment on the leg room and general comfort levels for a tall driver?

I'm 6ft 5.... 18.5 stone..... I have seen a E36 328 Coupe that I fancy on a well known auction site, but distance prevents me from traveling to test drive it before bidding and I am struggling to find anything half decent locally.

I hear they are not so bad for leg room but any comments are appreciated.

Ps: I am looking for a decent E36 325/328 or 325TDS in the West Midlands area if anyone has one for sale at a sensible price.

Plently room.

I am about 6ft 3" and the driving/pedal position was fantastic.

As above, also 6'3 and loads of head and leg room. I regularly drive it to Germany and the South of France with no problems.

Strange, I just had a look in one about 40mins ago and I found the pedals slightly offset??? I felt as though my left knee was banging the steering wheel when using the clutch.... I also felt the foot well was slightly tight for large feet.... although the legroom was fine.

I'm not sure now, I may have to get an auto..... having said that it was a bit hard to get comfortable with the salesman constantly blabbing on.

kinda disapointed because my current car is an Auto and I fancy a switch back to Manual with RWD, I'm not sure if an Auto RWD will be any better than FWD in terms of fun factor.

You may already be aware & have tried it but, the steering column on mine adjusts up, that may make a difference? Also, I believe the coupe pedals are slightly offset, whereas the saloons aren't; I think it's to do with the wheel arch intrusion.

E36 saloon pedals are offset too, all of my E36's (2x saloons and 1x coupe) have all had offset pedals

The pedals are offset in all E36 BMWs, but toward the outside of the car not the centre - It's to accommodate the transmission tunnel. It's not a wheel-arch thing as they'd be offset toward the centre of the car if it were.

^^ fair enough, was working from memory - saloon doesn't feel offset to me, maybe my legs are crocked...

First car I've had where I didn't need to throw the seat back to it's last setting.

Beware, it can take a little while to find the right driving position. It's perfect when you do though.
