E36 Traction Control

Hi All,

Quick question for you - Did all E36 BMW's have the TCS system in place, or was it only the more powerful models? My Dad's 328i has it but, but he says he saw a 318 Compact spinning away in the snow last week, so wasn't sure whether the lad had TCS on his car or just had it switched off..

My '95 320i does not - but not sure it has a LSD instead?

My old 94 3ltr M3 didnt have it - which I liked

Think it only appeared from 1996 onwards.

Yes, apart from the M3 Evo, which never had it

I've had my 328 for 5 years and, last week for the first time I was actually impressed by ASC. Bearing in mind I have never heard a single good comment on any BMW forum about it, I managed to reverse up my steep snow/ice covered drive in one attempt. Couldn't believe it, I could hardly walk on the drive.
That's probably the only positive comment you'll hear about it!

All the E36 M-cars had a LSD as traction control.

328 Sports can have either ( early ones have LSD, late ones have ASC ).....and you can have both....

(although you have to arrange it yourself)
