Just browsing through the classifieds and had a look at the Z8 page. Prices range from around £70k to £100k eek . Not bad for a 10 year old car! What was the list price on these, £80k?

Very rare cars - only 146 were registered in the UK. LHD only too iirc.

Always thought they looked stunning but as I recall the magazines who roadtested them were always a bit underwhelmed.

Wouldn't say no to one myself but I fear £100k will forever be a touch over my budget!

Absolutely first car in my lottery garage. Quite stunning. I was lucky enough to drive one a few years ago, but it made me want one even more.

That Dutch one has been on there forever.

Nearly bought a new one back in 2002 for late £50's (forget the £80k list UK BMW could not sell them)

Seem to have pretty much held at that level until the pound dropped against the euro and the savvy Europeans started coming over and buying them up.

Same happed to e30 m3, bmw m1's and left hand drive 911’s

(we have been doing to them for years before)

Dragging up an old thread here, but my mate saw a Z8 this morning and we were just wondering if they were affordable now, and the only two on autotrader are now £250k...

Yeah they've skyrocketed in price. I see one regularly (for a Z8 - maybe 2/3 times a year) in the Surrey area; old chap driving it but it has some questionable aftermarket alloys on it. Still a beautiful looking thing in my eyes, especially the rear.

By coincidence I saw my first in the flesh Z8 in Berlin last weekend, never seen one in the UK!

I got invited to BMW UK in Bracknell back in 2007 to test drive a facelift E87 120d and they had a Z8 parked outside.

As I had some time to kill before my drive I had a good look around it and while it was definitely a stunning looking car, they were all LHD and automatic - definitely not for me even at a tenth of that price!

I suppose rarity and the Bond factor play a big part in terms of value.

From memory I am sure they were all manual. It is the engine and gearbox from the E39 M5.

Alpina did do a version which was auto, I think it had a different engine too.

Yes, all regular Z8s, manual with E39 M5 V8 (S62).

Alpina V8 Roadster had a modified M62 (4.8 litres) with a 5 Speed auto.

All LHD.

Z8 is my #1 lottery win car. Just love love love it. cloud9
