Anyone seen an X1?
Discussion
I thought BMW launched the X1 a while ago, but so far haven't seen any on the road, and I was in Douglas Park BMW in glasgow yesterday booking our 130i in for a service, and they didn't have any in the showroom either.
Has anyone seen an X1?
I quite like the look and concept of these, and could see us buying one as a family car in a couple of years when second hand ones come into our price range ... pity they don't do it with a 3.0 petrol engine in the UK!

Agree - seen one in the metal and not pretty. Also totally overpriced - probably why they're so scarce. Have only seen one at the stealers so far
I agree that the looks are a bit challenging, which is why I wondered what they look like in the metal. Then again the standard 1-series is no looker and it's sold plenty!I thought they were quite reasonably priced compared to a 3-series touring, or the competitors e.g. Kuga, Tiguans etc.
Seen a couple now and it's definitely one of those cars that's sensitive to colour and wheel selection.
The first one I spotted was silver with puny wheels and looked very uninspiring. However, I changed my opinion when I passed a black one with bigger rims and various pieces of aluminium trim (roof bars etc). I think the ride height makes it more of a competitor to the A4 Allroad than the more obvious small SUVs.

Saw a black one in Kenilworth today. It was 4wd (thank god), and had decently big wheels though the arches are so enormous, they still looked a bit lost.
Some odd details, and a very wide arse. Overall I was more disappointed by the tractor noises from the diesel engine than the looks.

Saw my first one on the M25/M3 yesterday. Blue colour in SE spec I think. I wasn't that bad, much like all the other German SUVs. Much bigger than I thought it would be. Looked more like a fat relative of the 3-series family as opposed to the 1-series.
I saw a dark blue one as well. Looked OK - the dark colour hides the bulk better. Might be tempted to change my E90 for one in a couple of years time if I have kids and need the extra space.Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
