Jump starting e36 with engine terminal

ive never jump started through my engine bay before i just want to clarify really theres a black box in there with a + on it, i just clip the positive on that and the negative on any part of the chassis of the car e.g where the strut brace is fixed to.

am i right? dont want to electricute myself ( or anyone else )

That sounds right.

The positive 'bolt' under the bonnet is just a more user friendly way to connect to the battery terminal, which is hidden at the side of the boot.
