There's a lot of threads talking about replacing runflats with normal tyres... but I don't want to do that, I want a new set of RFTs.

The car currently has a set of Bridgestone Potenza RFTs on it (which must be at least 3 years old), which were always fairly horrible in terms of ride quality, and now worn out.

Has anyone tried the different runflat options, and have a recommendation ? Need 225/50/17 size. I'm loath to put another set of Bridgestones on, unless they've improved recently ?

my E91 330D came with Michelen RFTs. The car is only 3 onths old and I think the ride is great.

Used Goodyear RFT's last and every bit as horrid as the Dunlops and Bridgestones I've used.

I had the Michelin PS2 ZP runflats on my 330, ride was a bit firm, but not too bad considering it was a M-Sport. Non-RFT will also have a better ride, but I stayed with the Michelins when replacing tyres.

Michelins are on backorder unfortunately, and Costco wanted £220 a tyre if they had been in stock!

From what I've read it seems there's not much to choose between them all, and since I can get a set of Dunlops from ATS for £630 (almost £100 less than the others), I guess that'll be what's going on.

I read somewhere Bridgestone is launching a new RFT anytime now that is supposed to be half as stiff as existing and is aimed at reducing the number of alloy failures plus improving ride comfort back to non-RFT standards

I've been trying to find out some more about the 3G RFTs from Bridgestone, but drawn a blank. Anybody know if they are available, I'll need a set for my Mini soon.

Shame, the reports sound good.

I'd also read about a similar product from Dunlop but very little info, their website is very poor. Maybe I'll drop them a line and see what plans they have.

One thing worth bearing in mind with the E60...fairly sure the first cars were not designed for RFT's but BMW just slapped them on anyway. My car old 535d was a 11/04 car and I remember when they facelifted the E60 after that they updated the suspension to deal with RFT's better. The E90 is better with RFT's as it was designed for them from the outset.
