why does everyone dislike the x6
Discussion
I think it looks hideous to the point where it's almost funny. I do wonder what it'd look like if it was a normal car with that style. It might almost be cool. The main problem is the ground clearance. It looks like a car gone wrong. But this could be said for most 4x4s that look like obese versions of normal cars trying to avoid getting mice up their skirts.

I thought they looked stupid, until a black one passed me on the motorway. Have to admit, I though it actuially looked quite good, strong presence. In a way it kind of says 'This is me, I don't give a toss what you think. '. Not only that, I suspect it would be a great way to travel. Mind you, the sensible money would buy an X5.
Because:
- a 4x4 traditionally offered at least off road performance, and the X6 (as well as the X5) does not
(cue: no road clearance, no low transfer box, no locking differential)
- the X6 has less interior space than a 5 series
- the X6 weighs 2+ tonnes & has a high centre of gravity is not a natural recipe for a "driving machine"
In short, everything an X6 does, a 5 series X Drive equipped equivalent would do so much better. The styling, well, it is all a matter of personal taste (or lack off) but to me the X6 is the answer to a question that never needed asking ("who needs a 4 seater, coupe shaped SUV that has been hit repeatedly with the ugly stick)? Anything big will automatically have road presence but that does not equate to a great design statement. All of the above, of course, IMHO...

have to agree with This is me, I don't give a toss what you think.
I don't dislike it. Okay, as an off-roader it's useless, but of all the SUVs it's easily the best looking and if I wanted a vehicle of that size for road use only then I'd be very tempted. I've seen a couple and they didn't look as stupidly big as I expected from the photos I've seen. In reality though I'd only want an SUV if I had a need for something that had some ability to operate in adverse conditions, so it would have to be a Range Rover for me!

k you" to every other road user, he looked a little shocked! Terribly disappointed with the interior though, can anything be done to improve the rear console or the PC World spec sliding covers over the cup holders etc?Gassing Station | BMW General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
