Need to expand the fleet with an estate and want to pick up the quickest touring for under £15k? Prefer a diesel. Any suggestions welcome.. smile

3 series, 5 series or other? Any age or mileage restrictions? Do you prefer manual or automatic? Any essential toys?

A quick search on autotrader and PH classifieds suggests that £15k gives you plenty choice. A relatively new 530D should be an option for that sort of money.

OXYMORON ALERT!!!!! What you actually want is a 545i Petrol Estate.

How about this (last one at bottom page)? Personally, I wouldn't fancy the fuel costs, but the change from £15k should give you quite a few tanks of fuel.

A 3 series pref but will look at 5's.

This 545i does look like a good bit of fun! If a little on the thirsty side

Whats the quickest diesel BMW do in Estate guise under £15k? Would the turbo diesel's benefit from a bit of a remap?

Don't mention BMW diesel engines and remapping on PH, that's one big can of worms you'll be opening.

You'll struggle to get a 335D touring for your money as they're still relatively new but a 330D should be quite easy to find. I've got a E46 330D (saloon not touring) and without winning the lottery can't think of any good reason for having a faster car, it gives me the right combination of useable performance and economy. The more recent 320D provides very similar performance to the older E46 era 330D. Have a look at the performance figures on Parkers for a general guide.

Err, perhaps because it's over budget. A 335D might be available for £15k or less somewhere but I've not seen one yet. I suspect we'll be waiting at least another six months or maybe a year before they reach £15k levels.

20% over budget is a bit more than just a little. Anyway, that's a nice looking 525D, there seems to quite a good choice of similar for £15k or less.

That 545i would be lovely, but if you're after a diesel there's a 535d with sensible mileage for just over £15k

This one looks pretty good - personally I can't stand the alu cube trim but that' a personal thing. Depending on your preference or use (i.e. young kids) it might be worth searching out a car with full leather.

I'm seeing this and liking it.

I'm also loving the pro-speed camera sticker on the back window. Would go well with a PH one on the other side ;-)

Okay it's an SE but other than that it seems to have everything: 272 bhp, diesel, lowish mileage (71k on a five-year-old diesel), good spec, and well under budget. Should be buyable for £12k which leaves you with £3k for "fun" if you want to make it quicker - chip, suspension, alloys, new steering wheel, etc. and you'd have quite a stealth weapon.

Agreed - looks like a lot of car for the money - you might need some shades to quieten down the colour of the leather though....

Alpina wheels, pro-nav, nice interior. 330 BHP.

Buy it. You WILL love it smile

(They're really not that bad on fuel - for a 4.4 v8)

Haha - with a sticker like that I suspect that car has seen some abuse in its time...

What makes an SE different from any other model?
