335 i cab rattle
Discussion
My 335 i cab has got a really annoying rattle/squeek that develops at 70 mph + that appears to come from the nearside windscreen pillar area..Bmw have had the car for about three weeks trying replacement door panels, windscreen refit etc..anyone else had a problem like this or got any ideas what it maybe?..im losing patience rapidly with Bmw..the cars has only done 3k miles too..
I've got exactly the same rattle in my 330d - although it doesn't appear all the time.
It seems to depend on what road I'm driving on and the outside temperature.
I thought it was something behind the airbag pillar cover. Also the plastic surround above the instrument cluster has developed a slight rattle on certain roads.
Car will be going to dealer soon to have a headlight washer cover replaced and the washer bottle filter for the wiper jets cleaned, so I'm going to get them to take it out and have a listen - hopefully it will make the same noise on the test drive.

I have exactly the same. Mine develops at 75mph-ish
My old 3 series had a very similar rattle which I got fixed... I believe... if my memory serves me right... that the last one (which sounded identical) was the airbag gas canister vibrating against the metal bodywork inside the passenger side A pillar.
Not sure what they did to fix it but I suspect a couple of elastic bands around the canister would do it.
Can't guarantee it but worth suggesting to BMW if you take it in. I keep forgetting.

Well after a month of backwards and forwards it is now sorted..according to the dealer who have been very helpful to be fair,it appears to be loose trim under the wheel arch so as speed picks up air was getting through and causing a flapping sound inside the joint between the front wing and windscreen pillar..not sure how true this is but they re fixed the trim and the problem has gone for now...if it comes back i'll re-post..thanks for all the replies.
