Hi,

My dads X reg 325i has developed an overheating problem.

Driving down the M42 this evening, he noticed the thermostat going into the red. Cue the stereotypical, pull over, bonnet up, steam everywhere.
He seems to have a leak coming from a cylindrical metal protrusion that is mounted on something next to the water filler cap. I think it's supposed to be some kind of pressure release valve, but the valve has disappeared. Now its just a tiny hole that throws water out under pressure.
The part it's mounted on has the water return pipe from the block going into it.

Any idea's guys???

No, but we did think something seemed to be missing from there.
I guess these are just picked up from a BMW dealer?
