Morning People. Old ground I'm sure, but just a quickie. The 3 sereis wheel cracking debate, seen the youtube clip, heard the stories, but can someone just clear up whether it effects both these types of alloys? I've only been able to find trouble with the lightspoke?

Cheers, Bags.

Ah, I seem to have missed this one completely?!? Could anyone kindly give me a quick rundown? Do we need to get them checked? I have 18" m sport alloys...

Many thanks

Oh yes, get them checked.

Radial cracks on the wheel flange generally but also other type of failure. The lower the profile tyre the more likely, the larger the wheel the more likely. They don't seem able to take the impacts fed through by the RFTs.

Of course, offically BMW say there is no problem but I beleive they have begun replacements and have changed the wheel designs, but I stand to be corrected on that one.

I don't think you're a million miles away. I ordered a Z4 brochure, duly delivered recently and some follow up call from Dick Lovett asking if I was interested brought up the issue of cracked wheels. They hadn't had any instances of it at their place but were aware of it and were going to revise the alloys on the 'new' model? He said he'd let me know.

Does put you off of one though, was very tempted to go for one.

Wow, I wasn't aware of this... Is it mileage/age related?

You may want to watch this, or not.

Hi,

Could someone post a list of wheels that are affected?

I currently have 18" light alloy M Star-spoke style 193M wheels. Wondering if these are subject to cracking?

Thanks
