Hello!

I'm thinking of trading in my 07 RX8 for the above. The only thing thats really driving the trade in is that I cannot find a suitable bike carrier for my 8 and I really want to do a lot more mountain biking this year than I did last smile

So, I know this car is pretty underpowered but would it be so underpowered as to be a bit lame? I'm guessign the handling would still be fun but the performance is not going to be great. Appreciate any thoughts!

Cheers

If it was me - no smile

The RX8 is not exactly a paragon of low end torque but I think you would notice a big drop in performance. What's your budget ? I'm sure you could stretch to a slightly older 6 cylinder model - they're grrrreat wink

confused For that budget, why not a 320d m-sport?

Have a butchers at some of these for instance ? You might even manage to get one of the newer engined models (look for '272') - an absolute joy to own, I should know I've got one hehe !

If your looking for a 318d......surely a 330i is a bit of an outside gamble.

I paid around 14K for my 320d Msport.....56 reg with 40K on it, pretty impressed as an all rounder 'everyday car' to be perfectly honest.

Theres seems to be a lack of 330's in my area smile To be honest I'd like something with a bit of presence (the RX8 has this in surplus biggrin ) so the 330 might be a better choice for me. Ah well, thats part of the fun ne pas?

Mais oui !

I personally would not be comfortable changing for something substantially less powerful which is what you would be doing if you went for a 318i. To be honest you'd probably find a 320d, 325d, 330d or a 325i, 330i all acceptable in performance terms - even the 320d would feel punchy and would probably double your mpg over the RX8 !

Lots of different options - as ever the main thing is to get a decent test drive before you make up your mind smile

For £14k you could easily get a decent 330.
My 05 330Ci was £14.5k with 28,000 miles from a BMW dealer back in 08 and came with just about every option, tv, nav, sunroof, HK sound, folding mirrors, full leather, bluetooth.

I would consider going for an earlier car with a bigger engine.
