I have a 645 where the nav appears to be working but the car thinks it's 106 miles from where it actually is!! I've driven with the left side of the display showing the map and the right side showing the GPS position and movement is registered on both as I drive along.

I have checked the GPS position using a local OS map and it seems that the GPS position given is probably the same as where it is shown on the map (you'd be amazed how difficult it is with Google to find an easy way of cross-refercing GPS co-ordinates and map position/postcode, hence using the OS map).

So, it seems that the GPS co-ordinates of where the car thinks it is are being correctly shown on the car's maps. This means the problem lies in the fact that the car can see some satellites but work out that it's 106 miles away for some reason.

Does anyone know how the system can be reset or recalibrated (have tried battery off for hours and igntion on for hours, to no avail) to hopefully solve this? Or could it be that the car isn't seeing enough Satellites to get an accurate position? In which case, where is the antenna input? I have a spare GPS antenna somewhere that I could plug in and try, if I knew where to.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. smile

In the E46 system, there is a menu option that lets you 'Set Vehicle Position'. Maybe there is an option somewhere in the setup on the 6er that lets you do the same? Otherwise sounds like the sort of thing you'd need to visit a dealer to fix. Good luck!

Unplug the battery etc. Leave for an hour and try it all again?

This is a complete guess.

There is no "Set Vehicle Position" option that I can find unfortunately.

I tried disconnecting the battery (see my OP) to no avail.

I haven't tried BMW Land - where do I find it/them please?
