85k miles. Anything to look for other than the normal panel gaps, rust on bootlid, fuel cap.

Is there any way of checking whether it has any other common gremlins?

Thanks!

Check the history thoroughly, make sure there are no strange gaps in services or dates at which they were done.

The interior should look like new at 85k miles too, and the suspension should feel like new too.

These cars are seriously easy to clock, so be careful, apart from that they are almost bullet proof.

Do check all the electrics though, windows, lights, wipers, dash pixels etc.

Check bills for rad/cooling system work.
If it's not had work done, chances are it will need it sooner or later.

Normal stuff. Check all the electrics work. All the displays are intact and working. Check rear suspension is not sagging.

Thanks for the replies.

This was the fifth car i saw and bought it this morning.

85k miles, M sport spec with satnav/tv, leather looks new. I did drive an E60 but the interior felt like a let down to my eyes and didnt feel as well put together as the E39. Drives so much nicer than my old E320cdi and feels very well put together. Drove home with 20 miles of A roads, 30 miles of motorway and it somehow seems to very comfy on the motorway and also be very direct on fun to drive on the A roads.
Makes me wonder why i've had E class estates for the last 8 years.....
