Tell me it's just the tyres?
Discussion
Recently bought a 320td, have never driven a RWD car so need to get some views from those who are in the know but the arse end of this seems to step out incredibly easy without any provoking.
It's happened about 6/7 times today, not going fast, just on the throttle to keep a constant speed going round a corner/roundabout (in the dry). All I can say is thank god for DSC.
The tyres are brand new and are Ceat Tornados. Having looked about the general consensus seems to be that they're crap, is this true?

I just googled this brand of tyre (never heard of Ceat myself!) and came up with this: http://www.tyretest.com/pkw_sommerreifen/ceat/torn...
They seem to be crappy budget tyres which would explain lack of grip. If I was you I'd get them changed for some decent rubber.

Hold on, I am presuming all 4 tyres a new??You haven't got mixed brands front and rear have you??
BMWs hate this and can become lethal.
To clear some things up-
I did not buy the tyres, they are new but have a few hundred miles on them now, they are the same all round, I have come from a FWD car but am not provoking a reaction from the car and I'm not even talking about wet roads.

Would lowering the tyres pressure at the rear help for the time being?
Depends on what pressure they are running vs recommended. If the only recommended pressures you can find are for factory runflats you might get some luck on one of the BMW forums - 3 series/Z4 forums etc.Of course it might just be 'normal' for the car - we don't know how you define gentle driving.
Oh, if they're directional make sure they are on the right way round.

Believe me it's gentle without provoking the throttle. I can't see it being normal for the arse to step out at 15-20mph so often.

Could it have been a one off slide caused by dirt/diesel on the road?

The tyres are kwik fit tyres ... and may I add not cheap as my son split one on his car, so I was forced to buy one ... Would not be my choice...
