Selling older 530d - slow market?
Discussion
When I bought my yr 2000 530d some years ago, it was the car to have as far as diesel execs were concerned. I've got it advertised on PH & AT, lowish miles (109K), auto, leather, history, great condition, etc. Price is pretty reasonable too, but I'm not getting many calls on it. What's going on, has the market for these great cars slowed right down?
I did a half hearted ad for my old 330 and had no joy... so i took an hour out to take some really good pics of the car, lights on etc, pics of the dials/dash etc, differnet positions etc.
Then on the ad i listed dates, first reg'd, mot, tax etc etc..
listed the full service history, miles and date... the brand of tyres and how much tread etc etc.
sold within a week with LOTS more interest.

Thanks for all the comments so far.
I will get some better pics up as soon as I can, they are indeed poor & do not do the car justice.
The ad already says full service history - main dealer until 65000 miles, BMW independant specialist afer that.
MPG - around 33 mpg on my trip to work throgh north & west london, 44mpg on a recent trip to Leeds. Pretty good for a 3 litre auto.
Nothing needs doing at all, tyres all good with plently of tread

The majority of cheap used BMW's are owned by numpties who most people dont want to deal with.
Seperate yourself from these by, as others have suggested, writing a damn good advert with loads of pics, loads of details, all the service history, etc etc.
Make it sound like yours is different to the string of shabby old 5 Series out there
It'll sell quickly.

Agree with the comments re: photos. I'm certainly no expert but always think the amber front indicators make the e39 look a tad dated. Not sure how much a set of clear indicators would set you back but might be worth considering if it helps get it shifted..??As others have said, photos don't really do you any favours. As you only have 3 photos I'm guessing you have gone for the standard advert rather than the premium? These come up on the listings behind all the premium adverts so if there are lots for sale (I imagine there are in the E39 section) then yours will start a few pages back as soon as you enter it.
How does the price compare with other similar models? Milage doesn't seem particularly high for the type and age of car, and the old style tax is a plus, however I'd imagine it would need to be significantly cheaper than a facelift model.
Good luck with the sale.
