I think the snap in phone adaptors are universal so this may not be specific to my E61. The car has a built-in phone with bluetooth. The phone is a cordless thing which has a slot for the SIM card on its base; I assume this was standard fit when you chose the comms pack on E60s in 2004.

Anyway, it would appear I can simply remove the built-in phone and snap in my own choice of phone charger. Since I have no use for the existing phone, I thought I would remove it before ordering a new snap-in adaptor. But it's stuck... I have tried pressing everything, tugging at both ends and it simply doesn't want to move.

How do you remove a snap in adaptor normally? Is it difficult?

IIRC, press the button at the front and push the snap in adaptor backwards whilst lifting the front of it

Doesn't seem to work either - do you have to force it?

I'm now wondering whether my built-in phone really has the snap in base, though it definitely looks like it has the right shaped cut-out.

No force. I was wrong though ! Press button, adaptor just pops up.

Cheers. I'm going to dismantle the whole thing this weekend and find out whether it has a different base to the normal snap-in one.
