Hi all,

Just had the e46 330 coup MOT'd today, needs 4 new rubbers pretty soon, can anyone share any good / bad experiences with particular tyres?

Currently has Michelin Pilot Sport Cups which have been ace but a bit dearer than I'd like at the mo.

Hearing good things about Falken FK 452's, any thoughts?

Cheers smile

Try Vredesteins, I've used them for my last two E36 M3s and have just bought them for my E46 Alpina B3 (not fitted yet). From Camskill they should be about £100 each.

Thanks for your post. I know someone who has the Falkens fitted to an M6 and they seem to be pretty good. There are some good reviews on the Pistonheads Tyre Reviews also.

This may sound wierd but what "looks" better on the alloy from the sidewall view, i think the pilots looks great against other brands ive seen

I agree Vredesteins are superb. Had them on my a4 quattro, focus st and e90 330.

i have the falken ze912 fitted to mine, they are the all season version of the 452s. overall good tyres but i dont find them the best in the wet. very cheap though at a set of 4 for under £500 compared to the m pilots for around £800!

cant compare them to other tyres on my e46 as these were nearly new when i picked up my e46 last may, also they have done well over 10k with a mixture of driving

Sticks.

I read a tyre review which used the E46, 330i, I think. It was a while back so Goodyear GSD3s were best. I fitted them and they were v good, but no longer made, now F1 Asymmetrics. Have fitted those since to other cars and would recommend them. Quiet, smooth, grippy and with rim protection.

Thanks for all the posts.

Have booked in for the Falken FK 452's all round. Found the most good reviews for them and got them for a good price (£413 fully fitted, blackcircles).

Will let you all know what they're like.

Cheers

Cups on a 330 ? Why ?
I've Falkens on my E90 and don't like them so will be putting Conti SC3s on. Had them on my old E46 330 as an alternative to the original Michelin Pilot Sports, whcih were £££, and found them a good compromise. I did a lot of motorway/A road mileage though.

Another vote for Falkens here. I've had them on my 330ci for the last 6 months and no complaints whatsoever

Another vote for the 452's here. Had them on my Z4 for the past 5k miles or so, and seem to have good grip in the dry and wet. The only criticism is they don't have much rim protection. I guess the price difference to PS's for example will cover a fair few refurb's if you do have a kerb strike though.

Why not? Car not good enough??! Haha. No, they were on the car when I bought it.

Thanks for all the advice. Getting them done tomorrow so I'll soon know what the Falkens are like.

For anyone that's interested:

had a good opportunity to give the new Falkens a good test in the wet today, finding them really quite good, plenty of grip an they seem good in the dry too although I haven't tested them to the limit yet as I've been 'running them in'. So far, so good.

I'd be interested in any difference in the tramlining performance between the Cups and Falkens!
I have Toyo TR1s on my 330 and it tramlines like a.......
The suspension / bushes all seems fine, will need to try different tyres next time!
