5 Series Buying Advice

I'm thinking seriously of getting a 04ish E60 for around £10K.

My prime target is this one:

Seems a good price, the 3l enging should be nippy. I need a decent cruiser as I am up and down the M4 & M5 at the moment. What are your thoughts?

For similar money I can get :

I'm a little averse to diesels but maybe this is a more sensible buy? (ie slight more fuel efficient?)

Any constructive thoughts/advice gratefully received.
