Hi there,

I have been searching through the Classifieds as usual, especially at the Alpina's and i was wondering if they actually made any Alpina's that dont have wood trim.
These are great cars with great engines but the one thing that spoils it for me is wood,or plastic that looks like wood all over the dashboard. hurl

Plastic?? smash It's real wood with a thick layer of clear coat..

Most of the original buyers didn't much fancy the bacofoil alternative it would seem. Buy the council black plastic or sports aluminium trim if you so fancy and swap it out.

Mine doesn't have wood trim - but you can't have it wink ! Seriously, it's relatively simple to change the trim anyway: I don't really get why people get so worked up about it, it makes no difference to how the car runs.

True, but it makes a big difference to way it looks though. Its costs about £750 to change!

Hi Msh

Get the 'normal' wood trim out of a BMW of the same shape/series as your Alpina and then either paint those, or get them wrapped in a finish you'd like. Keep the original Alpina trim pieces very well stored in your garage/loft and if you ever need to sell the car, swap them back around.

To paint the trims wouldn't be expensive - any decent bodyshop will do the work. Some of the Vinyl wrap places will also wrap the trims in any colour or vinyl you choose. Particularly popular right now is the 3M D1 NOC carbon fibre textured effect vinyl wink

Cheers! Dennis, West London & Slough UK!

Thanks for the info mate.

Is it easy to remove the trim pieces. Are they just on plastic clips etc?

They are very easy to remove, you start at one end of the dash with a screwdriver ideally with a cloth wrapped around it so you don't scratch anything. Gently prise the inlay away and you will soon work out where the retaining clips are.

Keep the Alpina trim though, it suits the "gentleman's carriage" aspect quite well smile
