hi everyone, i have just picked up a '51 X5 3.0D and i need to get it serviced, does anyone know how much a standard service costs? the last one according to the book was an inspection 1 type service? also its got a full bmw main dealer history, is it worth keeping it up as it 9 years old with 90k on the clock or should i just go independant service route as it will be cheaper?
cheers andy

Dealer servicing is dire at most outlets, a good indy would be my route. Most service items are simple to carry out, and filters etc are not to bad from dealer network pricewise.

If your last service was an IN1 then you will only need an oil service this time.

HOWEVER,

Whenever I purchase a new vehicle, I always go for the biggest service, in your case an IN2 so I know where I am. You never know if faults or imminent faults were diagnosed on the last Inspection and the owner told the dealer NOT to do any extra work because they would be selling the car. Better you fix early before any faults cause serious failures.
