Hello all,
I have a 2005 525i touring auto that is currently averaging about 23mpg. Does anyone have any experience with the same model? If so, does the MPG sound about right? I also have a 630i auto that never drops below 27mpg, so the 5 series seems a bit thirsty in comparison.
Cheers
Andy

The 2005 525i is the older engine and more importantly the older gearbox, 23mpg seems about right, many diesel owners are only getting a few mpg more with that gearbox and that car.

What sort of driving is your ave?

I ave 28+mpg in an e39 530i auto, but that car spends it's life on the motorway.

I have a 2006 530i, and I get 28.8 mpg according to the trip computer that hasn't been reset in almost two months. Commuting journey is 20 mins motorway, with about 5-10 minutes stop-start at both ends of the motorway. Have once a week a trip to Bristol though (about 90 mins?)

Cheers gents...
Its being driven around town with a few runs in between, the same as my 630i.
Also with a very light foot.

I had a 2003 525i manual about 5 years ago that used to get close to 30mpg, do you think the auto gearbox makes that much difference?
