i swear the current shape has been around for a good 6-7 years, so surely it's about time a new one is due? any ideas what it's going to look like? there has been 2 6 series so far, E24 and the current shape, both look quite aggressive, i hope they don't tone this one down frown of all the current line up, the 6 stands out for me. it's not pretty, but it has a lot of presence IMO.

thanks guys

Hi,

I agree, whilst the current 6 does have 'presence' it most definitley isn't a good 'looking' car/style for the level/pricing it's been aimed at. The competitor cars are arguably much better looking (jag XK, Merc CL, Astons etc)

However, I too have wondered when or even at this moment, IF BMW are going to update it? I remember seeing a brand new one when I was working in Maidenhead in 2004, and I'm sure they first appeared on the 03 or 53 plate?

With all these X series additions, the 1 series coming out and the Z's being updated etc, there hasn't really been much talk of 'the forthcoming 6 series' in most of the enthusiast sites and publications. If there has, it's been relatively muted in amongst the noise of all these recent variants etc.

I hope they do make it a good dollop better looking than the current one - in M6 guise, for me, it gains some points back in terms of looks, but the non M models err, still look quite 'unpretty' !

Is there any murmurs or spy shots or photoshops of this floating around as yet?!

Cheers, Dennis! West London & Slough UK!

The dealers all saw the new 6 a few weeks ago in Portugal. It is nothing like
the current car. Influenced by the new 5 series, particularly around the bluff
nose....it is a truly gorgeous thing. It will be a bit marmite for most, but then
so is the current car. No news on the convertible - it runs 6-12 months behind the
coupe.

I've always liked the current six, probably because it's not trying to look pretty. It's certainly less glam than an XK but also a lot less 'brash old man' than an SL. I'd give driveway space for a 645/650 coupe smile

For sure, they don't make anything else like it.

They've certainly ironed out the issues I have always had with the rear end if that picture above represents anything like the finished article.

Still, the 'quirkiness' that I have always associated with models such as the Z4/6 series are slowly being ironed out, not sure it's a good thing?

I think the 8 is a good looking car (saw a lovely one on Saturday), but the E24 sharks are the Uber Coupes for me.

They just look so *determined*
