Saw a white, 5-Series (E61) M-Sport touring the other day and it had the OEM 19" wheels (double-spoke 172M style) that you can get as an option on the saloon. I did'nt think the touring was compatible with them - have things changed?

Looks great with those wheels, appears aggressive and wider from the front and back yes

I'm not sure what the changes are to the car to allow these wheels to be used, but you may be able to retrofit them?

From memory genuine 172s need a thin spacer fitted to the rear wheels for clearance on an e61. I suspect replica 172s wouldn't

Stick a post over on bmwland.co.uk or e60.net for a definitive answer though

Am I correct in saying these 19" rims come with normal tyres rather than run flats?

On both my 535d's they were normal tyres on the 172's i had on them. BUT i think the most recent ones maybe had run flats.

When I purchased my genuine 172's last year I chose my own tyres. What makes you think they come with anything but what you choose yourself.........??

I meant when the car comes new.

When i ordered my LCI 535d with 172s in 07, it came with non runflats. I got a set off a brand new 535d in '09 from the main dealer for my next 535d and those came with non runflats too.

I have a vague recollection though that the latest cars on 172s came with runflats.

Obviously if you're buying the rims on their own you can put what you want on.
