E90 / E91 330i - dropped?
Discussion
Just going mad here trying to work out why the 330i (272bhp) saloon and touring no longer appear on the price lists or configurator on the BMW website? Does anyone know why this is, or if the unit is being revised? Strangely, if this were the case, the new coupe is listed in 330i form, again 272bhp so presumably the same N53 (I think) with DI?

Yeah you must be right about a glitch. I couldn't see it being dropped either. It's just annoying me that its 'gone' when I wanted to look at a few configuration options.
I see you've got one - what do you think of it in general and does it live up to the remarkable fuel consumption claims?

Mine breaks down every six months
Seriously though the economy on mine is excellent - worst ever tankful was about 25, best ever around 35. If you are going for it you can get over 40 no problem (50-60 mph A road stuff).
Mine has been 100% reliable as well...
OK well, guys, I just bought one. E90 LCI 330i manual. Should collect next weekend all going well with the finances, I need to sell my E39 although I have an offer from the trader to fall back on.
I gave it a mixture of being driven hard and some sedate cruising on the M6 and got back to the dealer with just under 35mpg on the OBC, it was a relatively short drive as well. If the OBC is anywhere near accurate then this is seriously impressive. Sounded nice as well.

Just don't listen to it outside at tickover! I thought I had been given a diesel when I picked ours up.Really pleased with the car and the way it drove, it's an M Sport in Black Sapphire with Oyster / black leather.
Noel I'll have a look at previous threads but in brief whats the deal with your car, have you really had that many problems? There I was thinking that swapping several older turbodiesels for a modern NA manual petrol my life would be relatively free from mechanical problems and the risk of big servicing bills.

Agree that 25-35 is what you'll get depending on driving and I've seen 43 on busy motorways moving at 40 - 50 mph. Computer is accurate too when comparing to fill up amounts.
No problems with mine but it's only on 12k.
Back to my original post, Parkers are showing the E90 LCI 330i build dates as 01/09/2008 to 28/02/2010, thus implying that they are no longer supplied. They are still missing from the BMW price list and web configurator.

This can't be right, surely?? I would be very interested to know if anyone can shed light on this.

Was speaking to 3 Series product manager today about this and he confirmed 330i Saloon and Touring have been dropped from the line up. Apparently not huge sellers in these bodystyles while 325i and 335i both do quite well in four/five door form.
330i still available as Coupe or Convertible as the 3.0-litre 272hp engine sells well in these bodystyles.
Shame really as the 3.0-litre engine is an absolute belter.
Cheers

This fits with my own findings when looking at cars recently. Hardly any 330i E90 or E91 out there compared to 335i/d, 330d and 325i/d. It would be interesting to know the numbers sold. At least this makes the car I've bought a bit more unusual, there can't be many facelifted 330i M Sport manuals around at all.330i still available as Coupe or Convertible as the 3.0-litre 272hp engine sells well in these bodystyles.

Collected my new car this afternoon. My brother is coming to spend the whole weekend paint correcting and detailing it so I'll post some pics when that's all been done.
I have to say what an absolutely remarkable bit of kit. The journey back from the dealer was approx 65 miles with a mixture of steady motorway (Junctions 17 - 12 on the M6), followed by A/B roads down into Shropshire with some red lining and a few overtakes. The OBC was showing 48mpg when I left the M6 and 44mpg when I got home some 30 miles of fun later. I don't think our old Golf 1.9TDI would have done much better than that. I'll fill her up with V-Power later which may yield a further improvement in consumption.

I find that odd. They did bin the 130i though I suppose.
Hmm - I suppose this gives me a reason to upgrade to a 335
