Dashboard warning light - e36 323

I have just been told that the engine light on my 1997 323 isn't coming on when the car is started. All the other lights come on just fine but not that one.

Could it just be that the bulb has gone or is there something else which could be causing this?

which light do you mean? Engine oil? Engine management light?

If it came on before it should come on now but which it is will determine the response.

So when you turn on the ignition that light fails to come on at all but the others light up then go out when then engine is started like normal?
It could be a bulb but that would be unusual.
How long have you owned the car? Could someone have tampered with it to hide a fault?

I don't think they work on euro E36 only on US spec E36's i know mine does not come on.

yer thats right, euro e36's dont have engine check light.
