my x5 3.0d when i kick down i get trail of smoke but nothing when i drive slowly is this common?

So basically, when you boot it you get plenty of smoke?

Make sure you are running the vortex type oil breather and not the loo role style.

Also clean out your egr valve.

Other than that, smoke when booting is pretty normal.

it's a diesel...all diesels seem to do that.
