645ci vs 650i

Can someone highlight the differences between the two models? I know the latter has a bigger engine, but what are the, if any, mechanical, exterior, interior and software changes (idrive etc)?

I've been to see a few nice 645ci's for around 17k which I am quite happy to buy, but I hate cars that are overshadowed by the model up. Will I be missing out? Really dont want to spend any more than 17-18k, for which you can't get a 650i.

Perhaps its worth making a new topic, but I'll post it here first.

The 6 series I went to see today had SAT NAV, but it only had one CD-ROM drive. I thought cars with SAT NAV had a second drive for the disc?

Secondly, I've seen some 6 series with 6 buttons below the CD-ROM drive, as in CD1, CD2 etc, but I've also seen some with the CD changer in the glovebox. Why is this and which is best?

Sounds like you might have a little post purchase regret if you dont go for the 650i, the running costs are all but the same so it really comes down to if you can find the extra capital...personally I'm the same and anything that's not the top model (bar the M cars, which are in a different league) would irritate me I think

One slot is the business nav, may be just arrows and no maps, may be the later one with 2D mapping.

The post 2007 cars came with 8 shortcut buttons on them, apart from that it is the same, actually, it may be the business nav with these buttons that gave you maps as well as arrows.

If you look under the back of the car you can see the anti-roll bar. On cars with DD there is a hydraulic cylinder in the middle of the bar with a flexible hose attached.

Either that or drive it, corner hard and experience the extreme lack of roll. It really does work IMO.

On listening to the engine (with the bonnet up), there was a very quiet ticking noise, I'm guessing this is normal injector tick?

Not sure if I rate the standard sound system for a car which cost 50k new though, I brought a CD a long on the viewing and it sounds no better than the standard unit in a Mondeo. Are those speakers behind the rear headrests?

Logic 7 is a must have upgrade and sounds superb by anyones standards

Its difficult getting a nice car with the spec I want though. I'd rather have a nice car, than a tatty car with options.

Edit: Again, how do I check if it has Logic 7?

Will be a graphic equalizer in the audio menu.

Also it will sound alright with it and ste without.

The graphic equilizer is also in the other lower end hifi upgrade without logic 7.

Logic 7 you need to go in to the audio menu and look for logic 7 which has Theatre, Concert and off...

The sound is amazing no matter how much you turn it up it wont distorte!

Oh and also the 645 engine won the engine of the year award but the 650 engine never did...says alot!

+1, Logic 7 is worth holding out for IMO. I'm very, very impressed with it. Even Mrs5678 commented that it sounded good!

Favourite - Dynamic drive, sports seats, heated seats, good sat nav, the colour I want
