325ci error code p0365

hi there,

Plugged into my cousins E46 325ci sport my OBD2 code reader/scanner. It picked up error code P0365 which Exhaust Camshaft Position Sensor. At first kept clearin the fault and kept coming back. Then we topped up with oil as the light came on and only picked the fault very rarely. No fauts lights on the dash. Any ideas? Sensor dodgy or wiring issue? It keeps the fault as pending but at first it was a stored code.


Any ideas welcome and how to fix? DIY?

Sounds like the camshaft sensor is starting to fail...the symptons would be poor starting and/or the revs will dip when you blip the throttle and/or stall as you slow down for example at a junction.

Only issue, not getting any warning lights on dash and idles ok. only shows the pending fault on the reader. So on its way out? Best to get a new sensor from BMW or replacement from Euro Car Parts?

I'd get it from BM's not mega expensive

Don't get an aftermarket one, you'll end up replacing it again....they are around £70 from bmw, a bit of a fiddle to fit but managable

With symptoms not getting idle issue or lights on dash! Just best to change it?
