My candidate is the recent loan car I had from the dealer...a brand new 320i M Sport Convertible with some minor uninteresting options. Great looking car from the outside but so boring to drive.

Ok it was a convertible which was nice in the sun and the only real plus point but I now understand why lots of saloon based convertible drivers keep the hood up on a sunny day.....its just a bit of a pain...noisy and chilly even with the CC at 28 deg and full seat heating on. All this without compensation of sportscar thrills means the roof stays on. The drive was also not on a par with my 11.5k 325i saloon.

Any views on a duller way to spend near £40k on the Propellor badge?

Jeez you're not wrong.

320i M-sport cab £ 35,460.00 FOUR CYLINDERS

OR

Z4 sDrive30i M Sport £ 36,930.00

135i M Sport Coupé £ 30,675.00

All before options. Makes the 3'er seem a tad on the pricey side.

If you search through the threads on here you will find an even duller way to spend £80k on a convertible.

Spend £36k on a second hand M3 Coupe - how much more fun could you have for that sort of money?!

I would agree almost, which is why I went for the 1 series.

However if you get a wind deflector then it transforms the comfort. I had one for my 330 and found could use on a winters day with no problems at all, seat heating on of course.

It's a vast sum of money to pay for a car that will see a mondeo speeding past you as you look for the hole in the floor to start pedaling the near two tonne beast a bit harder.....
