People often refer to the E39 as one of the best cars BMW have built, is this really the case?

There's a nice looking 1999 528 Sport manual in Orient blue with black leather and the silver dash trim local to me that Im thinking of taking a lool at.

Its done 108k has fsh, 2 owners from new etc...

My Dad's 530d has a few rust spots, one under the boot and one on the rear arch, is this normal for E39s?

Im not overly worried about mpg as I only do around 15 miles a day, so its only going to cost a few quid more than the Golf each week.

Ive been looking at IS200s too, but this BM seems to be offering a bit more for the money, plus whilst I like the IS200 externally Im not sold on the interior - dash in particular.

Where as the BMW imo, is great to look at both on the outside and in.

Yeah the 528i was a great car in the same way as the 530i that replaced it.

Great drive and won't break the bank on fuel and running costs.

I drive a late 528i sport manual, It is used every day for approx 20 miles which is mostly in traffic. I usually get 28mpg on this run and regularly see 39 on a run.
I think the car is excellent, its plenty fast enough being a manual, its very smooth and handles very well for a bigish car.
It's also light to drive, the clutch is nice and light so no probs in traffic.
The only down side that I experience is that the rear seats dont fold so going to the DIY shop normally results in using my wifes e46 coupe which you can get more in.
I'd recommend it to anyone.

I have a 2000 528 sport auto. Best car I have ever had as a daily driver even in my opinion better than my e30M3 (e30 was a tad small for my daily needs)

The 530 is good but bear in mind the higher road tax bracket as most will be after the stupid 2001 tax hike!
